Aoraki/Mt Cook from Peter's Lookout
Lake Pukaki from Peter's lookout. The glacial feed to the lake gives it a distinctive blue colour, created by glacial flour, the extremely finely ground rock particles from the glacier.
Lake Tekapo, New Zealand
The colour of the lake's water truly sets it apart from other lakes. It's a beautiful turquoise blue created by rock flour from surrounding glaciers. The glaciers in the headwaters of Lake Tekapo grind rock into a fine dust on their journey down towards the lake.
Taken on the first day of our summer season!

Hooker Valley track - Aoraki/ Mount Cook National Park
Hiking towards the 3rd swing bridge through the open tussock area beside the Hooker River. It was a bit frosty, the track ends at the glacier lake where there is amazing views of Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Southern Alps.

Lupins - Lake Alexandrina, Mackenzie Country
Lupins are very popular to photograph through out the MacKenzie Country and generally flower late spring....this was the only lone flowering plant I found in the Autumn!

The Church of the Good Shepherd - Lake Tekapo, NZ
The iconic little stone church sits on a hill on the shores of Lake Tekapo amongst the natural beauty of the mountains. The view from inside the church looks straight up the lake to the snow capped mountains.....best views ever from a church!
Tasman Glacier Lake - Aoraki Mt Cook National Park
First light on Mt Cook, certainly well worth the hike in the dark to see these amazing icebergs on the glacier lake.

Glacial icebergs on Tasman Lake. Shot on a helicopter trip to the upper Tasman glacier. We hiked into this lake for sunrise, well worth the effort in the dark.
Underneath the grey glacial debris is roughy a 100 metres of ice which is the Tasman Glacier

Tasman Glacier and Lake
From above you can really get a sense of scale of the longest glacier in New Zealand. The Tasman glacier is slowly retreating, the glacier lake filters its waters into the Tasman river and winds down the valley into the beautiful turquoise Lake Pukaki.
